Am I the only person in the world that has essentially lost the ability to put their child down to bed at their normal time during the summer? We've always managed a great bedtime routine starting with a bath at eight, but this summer has done us all in. As Max says, "but mama, the sun is not asleep yet!" So let's just say that the bedtime bootcamp is going to have to start soon since the reality of school hits us in a month.
Max was so, so excited to pick up Brandon at the airport. We generally never do this, as he drives himself, but since we are a one-car family this week--we're sharing the love. It made me think that we should do this more...Max LOVES the airport, and we had a good time picking out letters on the television screens and riding the escalators.
I had gotten a bit concerned, as I've never been to the airport when my flight was not displayed on the screens--but, of course, we were the exception. So, I'm thinking that Brandon has been rerouted due to the massive lightning storm and we were at the airport at 10pm for no good reason. Crisis averted, he was there, they were able to get around the storm from the south, and I don't think Max's jaws shut for an hour. He had so much to tell him:) And he insisted on pulling Brandon's laptop bag.
And this morning, I'm thankful that my little family is all in their appropriate beds (no more sleeping with me!) and that they are STILL sleeping in their beds at 8am. It's a great feeling to start a Friday morning thankful that the Good Lord hears our prayers...we are happy and healthy and all here!
