Over the River and Through the Woods...

To Memama and Grandaddy's house we go!

Whew--whirlwind trip across the river and the Dillard duo is worn out.  I consider it a successful trip when I  am bringing home a dirty-footed little man, kickin' and screamin'.  He was none too pleased that it was time to go home this afternoon and was already asking if we could go back tomorrow.  It's a bit of a culture shock for him.  First, there is every kind of great home cooking imaginable, playmates galore, and boundless amounts of new things to see--horses, apple trees, and all around new territory that needs to be conquered. He is a tired little guy!

So, for starters--this is on our trip over yesterday....I'm thinking that I need to start working with Max on his directions.  Up, down, in, and out are all just jumbled together in that little head of his!  I hope Brandon enjoyed this little jewel!

A first for Max--he learned to climb his first tree by himself.  I have known that he really is Tarzan, but it seems that the world is now becoming aware of his monkey-like skills.  Aren't we lucky?  Papa swears he was climbing an apple tree at three, so now I know where he must get it from.  I will blame Papa for the broken bones:)

The best part of Memama and Grandaddy's house?  A new audience of family very, very eager to play.  This is Max leading Aunt Jennifer in a round of follow the leader.  They are doing some super serious marching.
And Mary Beth is driving him on a golf cart.  He really needed a seat belt and probably a helmet, but I am trying to not be a helicopter parent here.  This is my best grin-and-bear-it-but-please-don't-hurt-my-child smile.  I should get points for this one:)
Max and Grandaddy are doing some serious talking to Sam, the horse.  Max LOVES Sam from a distance, but is not interested at all in getting on the other side of that fence.
Again, he's using that fence as a shield!

Max and his cousin, Ellie hanging out on the fence.  I'm not sure why Ellie is so "buttoned-up" here, but I think this is a perfect Queen Elizabeth pose.
Fun weekend...hard to believe that there are so few left before school starts back.  Let the countdown begin!
