Patience is not my Virtue

And neither really is organization.  I have to work at them both, at the same time, pretty much all the time.  It's character building:)

Case in point:  Max has found a racecar over the last two days that is his toy d'jour.  It's a $1, prize replica of some random Lowe's Nascar Matchbox car, and he thinks it is the bomb-dot-com.  You will be shocked to know this he "misplaced" it at some point before bed last night and remembered the travesty first thing when his eyes opened this morning.  Hello, Monday!

So, in my effort to organize a search party for the above-mentioned car this morning, I realize that Max had completely dismantled two board games in the playroom.  So, amidst the car crisis, Mama is about to have a meltdown over 48 Hi Ho Cherry Oh's and 36 different fish from our Go Fish game that have been scattered across the floor of the playroom.  Forget the individual baggies that I have (or HAD) the pieces organized into--those are on the floor as well.

A quick clean-up and relocation of all board games later, we are in a full-scale search for a race car.  After an hour, a complete loss of patience, and dismantling of any organization in the playroom, I am thinking I need to find a piece of velcro to stick his toys directly to his clothing.  Considering how often his clothing comes off, I realize that won't work.  We're onto Plan B.

Target run.  I let Max pick out the niftiest, most fantastic magic blue basket that he can find (in the dollar bin, of course).  I let him pick out a new racecar for our basket, and then I lay the ground rules.  All special cars go in the basket....the basket stays with you at all times....if they leave the basket unattended, they are mine.

And apparently, I scared him into keeping up with his toys because the basket went to soccer practice with us, the bathtub, and now lays on my nightstand within his little arms' reach.  And it has seven cars in it--and I know this because I have heard him count to seven about 15 times already as if he's taking attendance.

So, is this an answer to my lack of patience?  Probably not.  But, I'm hopeful that it will at least minimize the constant game of "Where's Waldo" that seems to accompany Max's toys.  I have never really been that good at that game anyway!

Day in the life!!
