Yes, I acknowledge the fact that it has been, well, awhile!! Life happens:) Movin' along!
Happy Father's Day to all the daddies!!
I gave myself one-too-many pats on the back for having our Father's Day gifts for Brandon well in advance. And they were well-thought out--very proud of myself! And, I even located a double-driver screwdriver. Apparently, these are awesome and all-the-rage...they just seem like they are one more thing to make you lazy, but I digress:) All I needed was a card! Not too bad--until I realized that last night at 9:30pm. So, off to Walgreens I went.
Max and I attempted to make breakfast in bed for Brandon. That went really, really well until Max decided that he needed to wake Brandon up to let him know that we were making him breakfast...I should have grabbed pictures, but--who am I kidding--pictures first thing in the morning are just not nice (or pretty)!
Happy Day at the Dillard house! And we wrapped up our day by singin' the Happy Father's Day song to Papa. Not the most creative song that I've come up with, but it had to be do-able for the Maxster. He's not the best phone talker (it requires that he sit still), but he managed a song and a few words. He loves his Papa.
And, all this got me to thinkin' about how lucky I have been with the dads in my life. Brandon is a rock star of a Dad for sure. He is everything that I am not--calm and patient. I never realized what kind of Dad he would be 10 years ago, but the good Lord has let that all fall into place. He is a keeper:)
Then you have my Dad..the purposeful Dad. It's taken me my lifetime to put all that together, but I am now pretty certain that he is the smartest person that I have ever met. Our vacations as children were awesome, but they weren't laid-back, week-long vacations on the beach. We went on family excursions out west, to Yellowstone, to Washington...they were experiences, and I still have such vivid memories of the places I saw and the people that we met...even the First Lady! I probably have the one and only Dad who taught their 16-year old daughter how to change a tire and to check their oil and tire pressure, but I can say my "useless" car knowledge has come in handy many times! He taught me to never quit learning (hence the reason that I might be the only PR major with a Bachelor of Science degree) and to not have to rely on someone else to take care of me. So, yes, purposeful. And, I'm thankful that he's mine:) Happy Father's Day, DAD!!
