I vote that all week-long vacations should be accompanied by additional days to recoup from vacation!! We travelled to Isle of Palms, South Carolina last week and had a marvelous vacation. Luckily, we came home to super rainy and cold weather, so I was able to get unpacked, do laundry, and clean the house. Love that!
Here is Max just within seconds of putting his feet in the water the first time. Stegasaurus, meet the Atlantic--it's much different than our bathtub.
I will say that I had a mild panic attack the last day of vacation while we were at the Charleston Aquarium because my 8GB memory card was full!! So, let it be known that there were many, many, many pictures taken:) We vacationed with the Smiths, and we had a wonderful time with Josh, Beth, and the girls...we were in great company!
The beach was awesome, the weather was great, and I've decided that Charleston is on my list of weekend to-do's when I am minus a toddler. Ah, the food and the shopping! I have to say that it was much like seeing Rodeo Drive mixed with good southern manners. Must. Go. Back.
Aside from the normal beach extravaganza, we were able to do a horse-drawn buggy ride around Charleston, visited the pier, went to the Angel Oak Park, tested out their aquarium, saw Fort Sumter, and took family pictures....let's not forget the food. I had the priviledge of eating a warm piece of jalapeno heaven in some cheesy, shrimp fritters. Life will never be the same;)
Here are Max and I on the carriage ride through Charleston. This is about 45 minutes into the ride when it is evident that Max is not NEAR as interested in southern history as I am. The sweet couple in front of us were wonderful to not mind the constant questions and numerous references to fruit snacks throughout the trip. I've learned that my Ferragamo sunglasses do the trick. Note to self--purchase a good set of TJ Maxx specials to alleviate having to take my expensive sunglasses to the jewelry store to have them tightened after over an hour in the hands of my toddler. Funny Maxism--he announced to all in the horse stable that he did not enjoy the odor of the horses...repeatedly, over and over (and loudly)...while plugging his nose. Must work on appropriate mannerisms:)
Had a wonderful, wonderful time! Once I finish editing more pictures, I will post more!
Everyone get excited...birthday festivities are looming:) Ah, so much to do!
